DofE Award

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a programme of personal development for young people aged 14 to 25. The award can be achieved at three different levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold.

As an Operating Authority for the Duke of Edinburgh’s (DofE) Award, we offer opportunities for young people to achieve the Award under the supervision of qualified DofE Leaders, either as part of our own King’s Scout Award or as a stand-alone qualification.

Registration process

Young people interested in completing their DofE Award need to fill out a DofE Participant Enrolment Form and give it to their Award Leader, who is usually their Explorer Scout Leader or District Scout Network Commissioner. The Award Leader then submits a completed Request for Participation Places Form to Scouts Scotland. Please note that individual enrolment forms do not need to be sent to Scouts Scotland.

Once the places have been registered, each participant will have an account created on the eDofE online management tool to track and log Award progress. Welcome packs will be sent directly to participants once registered on eDofE.

The registration fee for Bronze and Silver is £36 and is £43 for Gold.

Organising DofE Expeditions

Expeditions are a great opportunity for young people to choose where and how to travel, from kayaking Loch Awe to cycling the Great Glen. As a DofE Approved Activity Provider, Scout Adventures Lochgoilhead can help organise expeditions and provides training to become an Accredited Expedition Assessor.

Expedition Assessor Accreditation

All DofE qualifying expeditions must be assessed by a DofE-accredited Expedition Assessor. To become accredited, you will need to apply to attend the EAAS training course.
