Learning on the new digital tool

Validated learning from Compass is currently being migrated to the new system. When you log into your learning account you’ll see any outstanding modules which you need to complete.

If you’re an existing volunteer who hasn’t completed the equivalent of Growing Roots in the current system you will see which modules you have to complete. Safety and Safeguarding modules must be completed within 30 days from the start of your role from when transformation happens and you will have 6 months to complete any other Growing Roots modules.

New volunteers will have 30 days to complete Safety and Safeguarding and 6 months to complete the rest of Growing Roots from the date they start their role. Find out more about the new digital tool here.

Modules 10a and 10b

If you’ve used an external qualification (i.e. not First Response) to validate modules 10a and 10b you should have been contacted to establish which qualification you have used. Depending on the first aid certificate used volunteers may be asked to complete a small amount of additional learning to cover all areas of the Scouts First Response syllabus.

If you’re affected by this you should complete any requested additional learning by 30 November 2024, otherwise, you will not be able to act as the designated first aider for any Scout activities. Once additional learning has been validated by a registered first response trainer you will be able to resume the role of designated first aider. Scouts’ Digital Skills tool is an online hub that provides support and resources for volunteers who want to develop their skills and confidence in completing digital tasks.
