We’re now looking for an enthusiastic and supportive volunteer to join our Scotland Programme Team as Lead for Programme Delivery (Events, Outdoor & Adventure).
We’re looking for someone who can motivate, inspire and communicate well. In this role, you’ll support the delivery of high‑quality programme experiences across Scotland, including national events, outdoor learning and adventurous activities.
You’ll help ensure young people have access to exciting, safe and memorable experiences that help them find a place to belong.
About the role
As Lead for Programme Delivery you will support the planning and delivery of a national programme of events alongside outdoor and adventure opportunities.
In the role you will:
Main tasks
- Line manage our Lead for Events and Lead for Outdoor & Adventure.
- Support the planning, coordination and delivery of national programme events, sharing best practice across events and with Regions.
- Champion outdoor and adventure opportunities across all sections.
- Work with Regions to identify and remove barriers to participation in outdoor activities.
- Develop and share best practice relating to event delivery, outdoor experiences and adventure programmes.
- Encourage collaboration between Regions to deliver high-quality events and activities.
- Support the development of programme resources, guidance and toolkits relating to events and outdoor learning.
- Ensure programme delivery reflects Scout policies, safety standards and inclusion principles.
- Promote opportunities for young people to access adventurous activities and gain new skills.
- Work with volunteers to develop confidence and competence in delivering outdoor and adventurous programmes.
- Support volunteer recruitment and succession planning within programme delivery teams.
- Maintain awareness of emerging trends and opportunities, ensuring all our events remain compliant and relevant to our young people.
- Contribute to national meetings, programme reviews and strategic discussions.
About you:
We’re looking for someone who is creative with ideas, ready to inspire others and help support an exciting programme of events across Scotland.
You’ll ideally have:
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
- Experience in event planning, outdoor learning or adventurous activities
- Ability to motivate and support volunteers
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong understanding of risk management and safe programme delivery
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Creative and solution‑focused approach
- Ability to work collaboratively across Scotland
- Commitment to inclusion and youth‑shaped programme delivery
- Availability for evening, weekend and occasional residential commitments
