We’re now looking for an enthusiastic and supportive volunteer to join our Scotland Programme Team as Lead for 10–24 and Community Impact.

About the role

As Lead for 10–24 & Community Impact, you’ll play a key role in supporting our Scout, Explorer and Network Teams, alongside our Community Impact Team.

You’ll champion our three oldest sections and help young people across Scotland take the lead in creating positive change in their communities.

From social action projects and volunteering to community partnerships and citizenship opportunities, you’ll help create opportunities for young people to turn their ideas into action and make a meaningful impact.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about youth empowerment, community engagement and social action, and who wants to help young people become active citizens and make a difference.

In the role you will:

  • Line manage each of your teams to ensure a fun, inclusive and age-appropriate programme for Scouts, Explorers and Networkers that is consistent across Scotland.
  • Work with the community impact team to develop and promote opportunities for young people across all sections to make a positive difference in their communities.
  • Promote programme opportunities linked to citizenship, social action, volunteering and community engagement.
  • Support Regions and Districts to identify local, regional and national community partnership opportunities.
  • Share best practice and successful project examples between Regions.
  • Encourage collaboration between sections to deliver impactful community initiatives.
  • Support the achievement of top awards across Scouts, Network and Explorers.
  • Support volunteer learning and development relating to social action and community engagement such as the Scout of The World Award and Earth Tribe.
  • Work with the wider Programme Team to integrate community impact themes across all age sections alongside our Lead for Community Impact.
  • Contribute to national events, meetings and strategic programme discussions as required.

About you

We’re looking for someone who can build relationships, inspire others and help turn ideas into meaningful action.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A passion for community engagement and youth empowerment.
  • The ability to motivate and support volunteers and young people.
  • Experience of partnership working and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to organise and coordinate projects across multiple teams.
  • The confidence to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • An approachable, supportive leadership style.
  • Availability to occasionally support evenings, weekends and national meetings.
