Scout Adventures Fordell Firs is looking for enthusiastic Outdoor & Adventure Volunteers to join our fun, friendly and hard-working team.

As experts in adventure, we deliver high-quality outdoor learning experiences to young people from across Scotland and beyond. This is a forward-facing role where you’ll work directly with customers, represent Scouts Scotland, and help create unforgettable experiences in the outdoors.

Scout Adventures Fordell Firs is a busy residential, multi-activity centre set in 48 acres of woodland on the outskirts of Dunfermline, ideally located within easy reach of Edinburgh.

The Role

As an Outdoor & Adventure Volunteer, you’ll support and deliver adventurous activities and outdoor learning programmes to a wide range of groups. You’ll work as part of a supportive instructor team and gain valuable experience in outdoor education.

This role offers excellent opportunities for personal and professional development, including access to nationally recognised qualifications.

Key Information

Role Title: Outdoor & Adventure Volunteer
Hours: 35 hours per week (including evenings and weekends)

Specific qualifications will be agreed with the senior team and guided by centre needs and your personal interests. Progression depends on your motivation, experience, and readiness for assessment.

What You’ll Do

Main Responsibilities

  • Welcome customers on arrival and introduce them to the site and team

  • Assist and support instructors in delivering outdoor learning sessions

  • Lead activities where appropriate, in line with your experience and qualifications

  • Ensure activities meet centre guidelines and group needs

  • Support equipment maintenance and monthly PPE checks

  • Assist with site maintenance, cleaning, and general centre duties
