Scotland’s Little Champion awarded to Ayrshire Cub
Dayn Montgomery, from 14th Ayrshire Cubs in Prestwick, was awarded Scotland’s Little Champion national award at Scotland’s Champions ceremony earlier in September.
The 9-year-old was nominated for his bravery and determination for collecting gifts, toiletries, Easter Eggs and Christmas selection boxes for children in the Royal Hospital in Glasgow with help from the fellow Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from his local group.
Dayn previously underwent open heart surgery at the children’s hospital and still attends for check-ups.
Group Scout Leader, Fiona said, “To see Dayn so confident in himself, going up on stage to collect his award in a room with over 400 people cheering his name was priceless. The tears were flowing, I thought I was going to burst with pride! Dayn Montgomery you are a true star in my eyes and encompass everything a Scout should be. Never change!”
