Keeping Your Learning Up to Date for 2026
Ann Gordon, Scotland Lead for Learning, has shared some helpful updates as we head into the new year, reminding everyone how to keep up to date with their learning and ensure all mandatory training is completed.
As we start 2026 many of you will be checking your training records to ensure your mandatory training is up to date.
The online learning for both mandatory Safeguarding and Safety training is easily available via your Scouts online account – both need to be renewed every 3 years. You can easily update your learning by completing the online course via your Scouts learning account – you can complete the learning at your own pace and once finished your membership account will automatically update with a new renewal date.
Updating Your First Response Training
If you require to update your First Response, there are two main ways of doing this.
- One day course (6 hours)
These courses areorganised by your region – please ask locally for dates and times. - Blended modular course (Hampshire)
This option is completed in three parts:
- (a) e-learning module
- (b) online confirmation session via Zoom (or similar) lasting approximately 2.5 hours
- (c) practical session delivered locally – approximately ½ hour
Once you have completed (a) your information will be passed to Scouts Scotland and we will notify you of dates for part (b). Once you have completed (a) and (b) your region will be notified and will let you know dates to complete part (c).
Please note that the three parts must be completed in order, i.e. (c) cannot be done before (b). First Response is only complete when all three parts have been achieved – your renewal date will be calculated on the date you complete (b).
