Children’s Mental Health Week 2025

Written by Alan Freeburn, Lead for Mental Health

Place2Be’s Children’s Mental Health Week 2025 takes place this year from 3-9 February 2025.

The theme for 2025 is Know Yourself, Grow Yourself, with the aim to equip and empower children and young people across the UK to embrace self-awareness and explore what it means to them. The aim is to help children and young people discover how getting to know who they are can help them build resilience, grow and develop (from Place2Be.org.uk)

If this sounds familiar maybe that’s because this is what we do week in, week out for our young people guided by them and delivered by adult volunteers based on our values of Integrity, Care, Respect, Belief and Co-operation. And we do it well.

There’s probably never been a more important time than post COVID to ensure we continue to listen to young people and work in partnership with them to help them develop the skills to navigate an ever-changing and challenging journey to adulthood and good citizenship.

We can do this by providing the opportunities for challenge, adventure, and responsibility through an exciting programme delivered by amazing volunteers. We know it’s not always easy coming up with new ideas, though, to keep the programme going. It can be a real challenge at times. This year Place2Be have developed some resources to explore the importance of self-awareness and expressing emotions and have based this on the movie Inside Out 2, tying in with their theme of Know Yourself, Grow Yourself.
