I work in partnership with the Chief Volunteer of Scotland and the Chair of the Board of Trustees using our strategic vision with a strong values-based approach, making sure that we put young people at the heart of all we do in local communities across Scotland. I lead the Executive Leadership Team to provide direction and focus for our work in support of volunteers and make sure that we play a leading role across the charity sector for the development of skills for life for young people.

I am responsible for leading the Operations Team, which consists of a Scouting Operations Manager, Scouting Operations Officers and Local Development Officers. I work in partnership with Scouts Scotland’s volunteers to develop and deliver our Strategy to keep growing, be more inclusive, be shaped by young people and make a big impact in communities throughout Scotland.

I have responsibility for a wide portfolio comprising Finance and Central Services. These include ensuring finance are used beneficially, developing the financial strategy, assessing investments, and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance. I am a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA).

My team supports Scouts in Scotland to use their voice, work with the media, partners and legislators, and fund their adventures. We also look after the Scouts and other young people planning their visits to Scout Adventures centres. We believe that every young person in Scotland should have the opportunity to develop life skills through the incredible opportunity of adventure. As Centre Manager of Scout Adventures Fordell Firs, I'm responsible for the day to day running of the centre from managing staff, health and safety, centre administration and providing an outdoor educational experience for centre users. I have been a staff member at Fordell Firs for just under 20 years gaining valuable experience throughout those years to help with the development of the centre.

Hi Im Ryan, Im the Deputy Centre Manager at Fordell Firs. I’m Passionate about the work Scouts Scotland provides at its centres within an outdoor learning environment. I have 14 Years’ experience at Fordell Firs and this has provided me with a wealth of knowledge and experience on how this industry operates. I collaborate closely with the Centre Manager Stevie on all aspects of running Fordell Firs to its optimum capacity to develop and implement educational programs tailored to diverse groups of young people and adults. In my spare time I enjoy visiting Historical sites around Scotland and being in the outdoors with my kids.

I started my journey within the Scouts as part of the Customer Service Team dealing with bookings and enquiries. I have just moved over to HR and Governance, principally my duties are to serve all the Committees of the Board, supporting their work and ensuring that papers and minutes are issued on time and that actions are followed up and to provide advice and support on issues around the PVG scheme, Policy Organisation and Rules (POR), Compass and the appointments processes. Whilst also ensuring we are following procedures in relation to HR and staffing. I am an avid fan of exercise in my spare time and can also be found teaching classes in the gym.

I'm responsible for the digital marketing and communications across Scouts Scotland, covering social media channels and managing the Scouts Scotland website. I also look after the centre marketing for the Scout Adventure centres across Scotland.

I am responsible for the processing of day to day financial transactions including invoicing, payment of bills and expenses. I am also the financial point of contact for any events and liaise with colleagues to ensure financial processes are in place.

I first came to work at Scouts Scotland in its centenary year, 2007, and have been here ever since. Over the years I’ve have had various different roles within Central Services including general administration, facilities, event booking admin and at times covering hr admin and finance duties. I’m currently our Member & Administrative Support Officer. I deal with administration for awards, insurances, facilities, company vehicles, enquiries, events and general support to our staff and volunteer teams. I am proud to be part of our Scouts Scotland Team and received an Award for Merit in November 2022.

Having worked at our Lochgoilhead Centre as the Centre Administrator since 2006 I now fulfil the role of Customer Services Officer for our Outdoor Centres primarily dealing with enquiries & bookings for Scout Adventures Lochgoilhead for youth organisations and educational groups. Being the first point of contact, I process all our bookings making sure our customers have an informative Customer Journey and high standard of Customer Care prior to and after their visit. Living in Lochgoilhead for many years I have sound knowledge of the area and what it has to offer our groups. With a background in Sales Development I enjoy nurturing enquiries and have vast experience in securing bookings and developing a strong working relationship with our customers. I also look after our booking finances and make sure that our bookings are settled and payments allocated and receipted prior to arrival. Once clients have had their stay I will keep in touch and hopefully persuade you to re-book for a return visit to one of our sites. In my spare time I love walking the dogs on the hills of Argyll. I also breed and show Highland Ponies and enjoy competing with them at agricultural shows throughout Scotland.

I am the first point of contact for all customer enquiries to Scout Adventures Fordell Firs. I work closely with the centre to make sure all customers get the best possible experience throughout the whole customer journey, from booking to when they depart the site. Outside of my role with Scouts Scotland I am also an Assistant Scout Leader in West Lothian and have been a member of Scouts for over 20 years.

As a member of the Scouting Operations Team I support volunteers with a focus on adult training and support with grant applications. I work to support the volunteers in their development and progression in Scouting. The aim is to have well trained and knowledgeable volunteers who can deliver varied and exciting activities to our young people, setting them up with skills for life.

As a member of the Operations Team, I support volunteers across Scotland and help to deliver our Strategy. I work primarily with Regions and Districts to support their local needs but also ensure national priorities are understood. I collaborate with our Programme, People and Perception Teams and the Scouting Operations Officer linked to each of these.

I help support our volunteers deliver a relevant and engaging programme to our young people. The role varies from behind the scenes admin work which most people never see to helping out at events providing activities directly to the young people. I grew up in Scouting, starting Beavers at six before drifting away from the organisation in my early twenties when work and life took over. With my first born starting Beavers I returned as a volunteer to give a little back to the organisation that I gained so much from and things developed from there. Currently a Section Leader in West Lothian and I help to deliver First Response courses within the district.

I support adult volunteers with funding, events and training. I have been involved in the movement from beavers through all the sections to leader in my early 20’s before moving away with work. I a currently a member of the Scout Team in Lenzie, and Transformation Lead in Clyde region.

As the Growth and Communities Officer, I work alongside Regions and Districts as we continue to achieve growth within Scouting. I provide support in making Scouting more inclusive and readily available as we work towards our Skills for Life Strategy. This can be done through the ongoing development of current provision, as well as opening new provision in a variety of areas throughout Scotland. Outwith work, I am a team member of both Scouts and Squirrels.

As a Growth & Communities Officer, my role is to provide our Regions and Districts in the east of Scotland with practical support to enable them to achieve their growth aspirations. I work with our fantastic volunteers, focusing specifically on opening new Sections for underrepresented communities and in areas of deprivation. Before joining Scouts Scotland, I spent over 20 years working freelance on a wide range of comms, project management and journalism projects. Away from work, I do more Scouting as a team member in my local Scout Group. I’m a keen distance runner and enjoy hill walking and camping, too. I’m also a music nerd, particularly fond of punk and metal.

As Growth & Communities Officer, I work with our volunteers at Group, District and Regional levels across the West of Scotland and into the Central Belt giving practical support to create new provision in under represented communities and areas of deprivation. Out with work I am a Deputy District Commissioner and an Assistant Regional Commissioner (Adult Training) with over 14 years’ experience working with all age groups of the Scouts.

I am jointly responsible for ensuring that visitors to Scout Adventures Meggernie have a memorable experience. I am closely involved in the whole customer journey from initial enquiry to departure. I provide the centre’s administrative support and am involved in housekeeping, maintenance, the development and delivery of activities. My Forest School and Scouting experience allow me to enhance centre user’s programmes and be responsive to their needs.
