Barry is the Chief Volunteer of Scotland, leading the Scouts Scotland Volunteer Team in developing Scouting across the country. With over 25 years of volunteer experience with Scouts, Barry has held various roles, including section, district, and national positions. For the past 15 years, Barry has focused on the Explorer Scout section, volunteering in both Edinburgh and Highland Perthshire. He strongly believes in the value of international Scouting and has attended jamborees, completed his explorer belt, and led international expeditions to Malaysia, Uganda, Nepal, and Cambodia. Barry has also served in national roles, including as a trustee on the Scouts Scotland Board, supporting the delivery of the first two Scottish youth conferences, and three years as a Scottish Depute Chief Commissioner with responsibility for Programme. In his professional life, Barry works as a Primary School Headteacher, leading two schools in rural Highland Perthshire.

Adam is the Deputy Chief Volunteer of Scotland, supporting the leadership of Scouts Scotland as the organisation launches its new strategy. With over 25 years of volunteering experience, Adam has contributed in a variety of roles at both local and national levels. Most recently, he served for two and a half years as Scotland’s Lead Volunteer for Support, overseeing teams of more than 350 volunteers to ensure effective delivery across the country. Beyond Scouting, Adam works as a DevOps Engineer at a cloud computing consultancy, bringing technical expertise to their professional role. A keen sports supporter, he can often be found cheering on from the sidelines at a rugby match.

Jamie has been involved with Scouts since he joined Cubs 2 years ago in Inverness. Initially volunteering as a Scout Leader, he moved into the Explorer and Network Sections when they were launched. As well as the usual weekly events locally, Jamie was involved in the rebranding of The Caledonian Rally and attended many national events including Sub Camp team at the 2007 World Jamboree. He has also been a regular on subcamp at Blair Atholl. Jamie said "I am looking forward to the challenge of building on the excellent Explorer Scout provision across the country as we exit the pandemic, giving the young people that have missed so much over the last few years the Explorer Scout experience that they really want. With so many options for Explorer Scouts from chasing their Top Awards, mixing local, regional and national events to Young Leader Programme, there is something for everyone as we mould the people that will replace us in running our great organisation."

I have been involved in Scouting for most of my life and formally joined the Venture Scouts at the age of 15. I have been lucky to have had many opportunities in my Scout adventure including attending 3 World Scout Jamborees and being part of Clyde's leadership team for the 2017 Explorer Belt based in Austria and the 2018 Queen's Scout expedition to Indonesia. Through my role as a member of the Scout Active Support at Lochgoilhead, I became an instructor for sailing, powerboating, kayaking and first aid. My passion, both as a Scout Leader and Teacher, is to provide young people with opportunities that they would otherwise not have had. The skills I gained in the outdoors have helped me to do that through camping, adventurous activities and the DofE Scheme. When I am not Scouting or doing my day job as a Chemistry Teacher, you will normally find me training for and taking on some crazy adventurous activity to raise money for charity.

My Scouting life started as a quiet 6-year-old in Coatbridge with the 2nd Coatbridge Scouts and then went onto Explorers completing my Explorer Belt in the USA. In previous Scouting roles I was a Trustee of Scouts Scotland for 6 years and have supported 3 Blair Atholl Jamborettes. I was also a member of the first Community Impact Group that co-designed and created ‘A Million Hands’ and I project managed this for 3 years prior to the Commissioner role being created. I’ve also supported 2 World Scout Jamborees in Japan and America as part of the Operational Managers Team looking after IST Experience. In my day job I’m a Development Officer, supporting Care Experienced People with children’s rights, independent advocacy and participation work to help ensure all of Scotland’s children grow up loved and reach their full potential.

I’m really excited to take on the Youth Lead role! Having progressed from district to region to now national, I have lots of ideas to share, and I’m thrilled to start working with the Scouts Scotland leadership team and Regional Youth Leads to deliver our new strategy, keeping young people’s voices at the heart of decision making!

. As a professional in mental health he has been keen to support young people and adults in all of his roles and most recently served in a national role as the Lead Volunteer for Inclusion. He continues to work with the Inclusion Team with responsibility now for Mental Health. As a member of the UK Inclusion Team he’ll be looking at strategies used for support and education across the UK for mental health and bringing this to the Scottish context. Alan sneaked in to cubs before his 8th birthday (quite some time ago) and liked it so much he’s never left! Over a number of years he’s been involved with cubs, scouts and venture scouts, at the time, in Ayrshire, Lanarkshire, Edinburgh and latterly Fife. Alan has also been attending Blair Atholl Jamborette since 1992 in various roles.

I am the Lead Volunteer for International for Scouts Scotland. I worked with all our Jamboree Unit Leaders as they prepare for the 25th World Scout Jamboree. I'm also keen to support Leaders in Groups, Districts and Regions, to build capacity to lead international trips, share good practice and ensure we offer youth shaped international and global opportunities across Scotland. Through Scouts I have had the opportunities to be a member of the Scottish Board, a member of the national representative pool, and the predecessor of the National Youth Advisory Group. I've also held roles as a youth representative on the Scottish Trustee Board, Assistant Explorer Scout Leader, Training Adviser and most recently Scotland Commissioner for Youth Involvement.

As the Lead for Meggernie Service Team, I work in partnership with a diverse range of volunteers from across Scotland to provide support to Scout Adventures Meggernie. The team provides not only support with activities and events but also maintenance and development projects across the site. Having grown up in Scouting and benefiting from the amazing opportunities it provides, I want others to experience the magic of Meggernie and the skills that Scouting has to offer. Giving young people experiences in the outdoors is a major part of my life as an Assistant Beaver Leader and a Primary Teacher.

As Lead for Safety, my role is to provide strategic development of safe Scouting practices in Scottish Scouting and provide support to Regions in this area. I have held various leadership roles in Cubs, Scouts and Venture Scouts. I was chair of the Scottish Scout Fellowship and had a place on what was the Meggernie Board. I have been involved in running many Scouts events and I've been an activity coordinator at Blair Atholl for several years.

In this role I manage volunteers across seven support teams which support Scottish Scouting in a variety of areas including Service Teams, Media, Heritage, and Resolutions. Since joining the Scouts as a young leader, I have been fortunate to have held a variety of roles across Scouting including Section Leader in Beavers and Cubs, Group Lead Volunteer, Trustee, First Response Trainer and Deputy Contingent Leader for the World Scout Moot. Outside of Scouts I am a Paramedic, currently splitting my time between working in forensic health within Police Custody and teaching healthcare courses.

As Lead for Governance, my role is to support our Trustees in Groups, Districts and Regions, helping them to develop and achieve strong governance, in keeping with our strategic plans. I have over 40 years’ experience as an adult in Scouting, including as an Assistant Section Leader with both Cubs and Scouts, as a member of Scout Fellowship before becoming Assistant Area Commissioner (Scouts), Deputy Area Commissioner, Regional Commissioner for Clyde and latterly Depute Chief Commissioner (Perception). I was an elected member of the Scottish Trustee Board for six years at the time of restructuring of Scottish Scouting as well as a Trustee in Clyde Region whilst Regional Commissioner. I am currently District Chair for Eastwood. I have also been a leader at Blair Atholl Jamborette since 1984. I retired from the NHS in September 2021 after 38 years as a Clinical Scientist in the West of Scotland Centre for Genomic Medicine, the last six years of which I was responsible for the Compliance team maintaining ISO15189 accreditation standards, GDPR, training and personnel management.

As Lead for Staged Performances, my role is to provide support and advice on to Scout shows and to assess the Scottish Gang Shows on a 3 yearly cycle. Gang Show has been a major part of my life in over 30 years, having been in the cast and stage crew of the Dundee Scout Gang Show where I have so many happy memories. I also enjoyed visiting other Gang Shows, to witness the fun and enjoyment that young people and those young at heart receive participating in the uniqueness which is a Gang Show, and I am excited at the prospect of continuing to do so in this role.

As the Lead for Learning my role will be to support the work the regions do to provide training to section leaders and to work with our team of Scottish trainers to deliver manager training. My role will include ensuring the implementation forthcoming changes to adult training and to support volunteers through the journey. I have been involved in Scouting for over 30 years initially with the cub section and then moving on to group, district and regional roles. My involvement in training goes back to the 1990s in the Glasgow Area and latterly my role was that of ARC(AT) for Clyde region. Most of my professional life has been spent working in the third sector with volunteers and volunteer involving organisations. When not working or Scouting I enjoy a good detective novel, cooking and travelling round Scotland.

Graham graduated MBChB with Commendation at the University of Glasgow in 1982. He retired from clinical practice as a Consultant Neonatal & Paediatric Surgeon in Glasgow at the end of 2019. He is currently Chair of the National Endoscopy Training Programme Board at the NHS Scotland Academy and a non-Executive Board member of NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, Scotland’s largest Health Board. He is an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Glasgow and is a member of the Medical School’s Progress, Fitness to Practice and Honorary Status Committees. He is also a Panel Member for the Children’s’ Hearing System in Scotland. Graham has served the Scout Association as a volunteer leader for more than 40 years. He is currently a UK Trustee and Chair of the National Awards Advisory Group. He is a Vice President of Scouts Scotland having been Chief Commissioner (Lead Volunteer) for seven years. He received a Lifetime Achievement Award from YouthLink Scotland in 2018 and was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee honours list in 2022 for services to young people. Graham is currently the Lead for Resolutions Support for Scouts Scotland.

Kenneth has been a volunteer in Scouting for 30 years and in addition to being Chair of the Development Grants Committee, he is also a Group Scout Leader in Eastwood District. He has previously held a number of other roles in Scouts Scotland, including Depute Chief Commissioner (Programme), Scotland Commissioner (Scouts) and as a Unit Leader to the 22nd World Scout Jamboree in Sweden. Professionally, Kenneth is a Headteacher in a secondary school in Glasgow.

In my role I will work with the inclusion team volunteers to support everyone in Scottish scouting to remove the barriers that still stop some people (young and old) being part of our great movement. I’ve been a scout all my life and since I came to Scotland in 1999 I’ve been involved in group, district, area/region level in a number of roles. I was the Cub Scout Leader in Kincardine, Fife for 12 years and I’m now a group helper. The Blair Atholl patrol jamborette has a special place in my heart. I’ve been staff at the camp since 1998 and the past two camps I’ve been part of the amazing Murray Subcamp team. Outside scouting I work for Greener Kirkcaldy as Community Engagement Team Manager. My Scouting started as a Cub in the 28th Glasgow (Giffnock) Group where I continued through to Venture Scouts and leadership positions in the group. Much of my previous Scouting as an adult has been through leadership of the Explorer Section; firstly, as DESC in Eastwood District for a number of years and then as Deputy Regional Commissioner in Clyde Region with specific responsibility for the programme of the Explorer and Network sections; I was also a Trustee of Clyde Region, sitting on the Regional Executive committee for six years. I still maintain an active role in my local Explorer Unit as part of our flexible volunteering team. I’ve been a participant, leader and CST on several jamborees including Chile, Japan and Korea. I have also attended internationally focused UK events including Blair Atholl Patrol Jamborette and several Auchengillan Jamborees. As Lead Volunteer for People, I am responsible for managing teams of volunteers and collaborating with staff to deliver our Skills for Life plan in the areas of Governance, Safety, Safeguarding, Outdoors and Adventure, Learning and Adult Awards. In my day job I’m a Chartered Building Surveyor and National Director of Building Surveying for a nationwide engineering and construction consultant managing a team of surveyors throughout the UK.

Erin has worked with children for over 20 years and currently runs her own business teaching music to babies and toddlers. She joined the scouting movement 3 years ago as a Beaver leader & along with her team opened Midlothian’s first Squirrel Drey in January 2022. Erin is passionate about our younger members learning valuable foundations that they can take with them & hone throughout their Scouting journey, equipping them with skills for life. She believes that opening more Dreys across the country will be beneficial to so many people whilst expanding our Scouting family.

In his role, Jack is responsible for the development of the Beaver Section, working closely with other Scotland Leads to ensure the delivery of a quality, balanced programme. Jack joined the movement over 13 years ago as a young person and became the Beaver Leader at 6th East Kilbride when he turned 18. Since then, he has supported Scouting at Group, District, and Regional levels. As a young person, Jack had the opportunity to get involved with some amazing activities, and this has inspired a passion for helping young people grow and develop through opportunities from the Scouts. The skills he developed were key to achieving his King's Scout Award in 2023, where he had the honour of meeting Bear Grylls at Windsor Castle. Outside of Scouting, Jack is a Communications and Marketing Professional. When he's not working or volunteering, Jack enjoys outdoor activities, particularly kayaking and hiking.

Scouts have always been involved in their communities, reaching back to the ‘Bob a Job’ days and this ethos still lives. As the Lead for Community Impact I am looking forward to championing our current work a d partnerships whilst driving new ideas that makes a real difference. I first started Scouting at the age of 6 as a Beaver in the 5th Downfield Scout Group in Dundee and have been involved in Cub and Network sections for a number of years. Additionally, I have an interest in international Scouting, having twice attended the Central Florida Jamborette, several Blair Atholl Jamborettes as well as the 25th World Scout Jamboree in South Korea. Outside of Scouting I am currently undertaking a degree in Community Education from the University of Dundee. I also work as an outdoor instructor at a local activity centre, running a number of adventurous activities both on and off the water!

In this role, with the help of my Team I will work to remove barriers that Care Experienced Young people and young people from areas of deprivation face in Scottish Scouting. We would love to hear from you if you have Care Experienced Young people in your group and we would welcome any examples of good practice of social equity in Scottish Scouting. I went to my first Scout camp as a baby as my dad was a Scout leader and I've never stopped Scouting. I joined the Venture Scouts at 16 and went on to do a variety of group roles as a leader and I’ve also been involved for 28 years as a member of SHQ Fellowship, Scottish Scout Active Support and am now a member of SST and Meggernie Service Team. My work focuses on fostering inclusivity and ensuring everyone has equitable opportunities to participate and thrive within Scouting. I strive to build a supportive team, raise awareness of race equity throughout the organisation, and provide guidance to volunteers and members. I began my Scouting journey at the age of five in Pakistan. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of attending national and international Jamborees across the Asia-Pacific region, as well as participating in SAARC Friendship Camps, where I helped promote friendship and peace in South Asia. After moving to Scotland, I joined Scouting in 2019 as an Assistant Leader and have since become an Explorer Group Leader. Blair Atholl holds a special place in my heart - I’ve attended the Jamborette twice as a team leader for the International Scout Games. All of these opportunities have shaped my approach in my current role as Scotland’s Lead for Race Equity. As the Lead of the Media Team my role is to promote and expand the wide range of activities and events Scout Scotland put on to encourage new volunteers and young people to get involved! My scouting journey began before I was a beaver with both my parents taking me to Scout camps, this love continued on all through Scouts and I now look forward to showing those opportunities to more young people around the country. Whilst working closely with the Media Team I help to organise and show exactly what scouting has to offer from a group level to a national one.
